2 more questions... vergaser maintenance and engine demontag

  • OK day four of a big maintenance of my schwalbe :D , 2 questions...
    I've cleaned the outside of the vergaser, removed a lot of oil and dust, also cleaned the bottem of the "Schwimmerkammer" which looked brownish. Is there more to clean?


    Second, how do i remove the complete motor from the frame? More specific how do i remove the chain (kette?) from the engine...

    Now i will try my bad english! :D
    you must blown air through the nozzles. The brown thing on the bottem is rust of the tank. It is possible that you have to "derust" it. Do not use any hard tools like a wire brush.


    To remove the chain, you have to remove the right cover of the engine... there are three screes.

    ist better you clean all the nozzles (ist das richtig übersetzt?-Düsen) wich are out of brass.
    Just remove them, put into cleanig petrol, wait 1-2 h. . Then blow throug them (with your mouth, or much better with an kompressor)


    Removing the engine is easy:
    Remove the cover on the left side! then the "ritzel" (where the chain goes round), Now you have to remove 2 or 3 screws, and the engine is free!

  • haha, your so called "bad english" sounds way better then my german :)) :)) I think nozzle is perfect for düsen, anyway the manuals are german so i use the german terms to :D
    The brown i mentioned doesnt look like rust, its a layer that I mostly can clean of with petrol. The brown layer is also on the "swimmer" and the nozzles.

  • hé dont start a mud fight over here, i allready found where it is :) . But afther you removed the ritzel, the chain is still inside the motorhousing. It enters true another hole then where it leaves the housing... :rolleyes: Sould i also remove the "Luftfuehrung"?


    In the vergaser is indeed probably resin but the question is if i should try to remove it from the "Schwimmerkammer" and "Schwimmer".

  • Don´t handle too hard with the Schwimmer. The material is thin and (where´s the book?)delikate. Icleaned it with hand(tooth-)paste and then polish until it was shining.
    The Luftführung must be removed -i think too.
    Sorry - my one is a 51/2.
